Queer Education Initiative Foundation is a non-profit organization whose aim is to spread awareness about the queer community and represent the people of the community on deserving platforms. We also focus on making the society aware about the basic yet necessary terms of the community. As we see acceptance of a Queer child to be one of the most crucial and necessary steps towards broadening of societal mind, we give our best to share and spread the knowledge about it. The first ever organization who works upon spreading education about Queer Community is a community for Queer people and by Queer people. We as an organization started this to help people know and understand better about Queer community and make them aware about the necessity of acknowledging the same.
WHY DO WE NEED QUEER EDUCATION?
The need of queer education is as important as having a basic knowledge about your environment. As known, having half information about a certain thing is more dangerous than having no information about it. People are having a half - information about the queer community, one of which involves the huge misconception between gender and sex of a person. For instance, people with incorrect information think that a gay and a trans person are the same thing; which is not true! (Do checkout our glossary to know more about it).
One of the biggest reasons of this misleading information is the society itself. People are carriers of messages, they spread what they hear and this is how any information breeds in a human brain. People have blind faith upon their source of information. Thus considering that, information about anything in particular spreads like a virus in the society; hence our involvement in spreading the appropriate information about the queer community is a step taken to help an individual to have the correct education about it which would help them know about the community in an appropriate way.
Why Queer Education Initiative Foundation?
Queer Education Initiative Foundation as a platform does multiple tasks to prove the significance of its working. It includes:

Conducting events with queer small businesses, artists, etc.

Having poem anthology for budding poets / writers.

Spreading awareness about the LGBTQ+ community

Queer talks / panel discussions with esteemed guests on several topics.

Helping people get knowledge about the terms of community.
We are working towards spreading our working for the community. We are planning and working upon conducting Educational workshops and gender sensitization programs at workspaces, schools, colleges, etc.

Our vision is a world where everyone is celebrated and respected for who they are, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. We envision a future where people from all walks of life are able to come together in a spirit of unity and acceptance, to celebrate diversity and promote social justice for all.
MISSION
Our non-profit is committed to raising awareness about LGBT+ issues through the development and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based workshops. We strive to educate individuals and communities about the experiences of LGBT+ people, and to empower them with the knowledge and tools they need to become allies and advocates for this marginalized population. We believe that education is key to promoting positive change, and that by working together, we can build a more inclusive and accepting society for everyone.
DIRECTOR
Chitvan is a writer, poet, and a क्रांतिकारी| They have written and published novels and poem anthologies. He introduces himself as a Jalebi - sweet, crispy, and definitely not straight. She founded Queer Education Initiative Foundation and continues to work for it with nothing, but more awareness and representation in return. They believes that 'Pain is inversely proportional to happiness'. At the end, she is and will always be too proud for what she does and every action she takes for the change that she wants to see.
